James “Jim” Denny Jr., 71, of Zanesville, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on May 19, 2026, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.
He was born on July 11, 1954, in Zanesville, Oh, son of the late James H. Denny Sr. and Dorothea (Adams) Denny. Jim was a graduate of Zanesville High School in 1972 and a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He later worked for the IBEW as an Electrician for many years. He loved Dirt Track and NASCAR racing, going to concerts, and listening to his music. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Oak Island and spending his time with his family and loved ones.
Jim is survived by his 2 children: LeAnne (Thomas Woerner) Denny and Jason (Christina Hill) Denny; sister, Jo (Paul) Miller; grandchildren, Addison and Ethan Woerner, Ashton, Parker, Saige, Saylor, and Shiloh Denny; several close friends and co-workers; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Carol (Young) Denny; brother, Jon Denny; special dog, Bruno; special cat, Bella.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2026, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held at 6:00 PM with Kevin Franklin officiating. Full military honors will be presented by The United States Navy in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058. A dignified cremation will take place following services.
