The Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival is set to take flight

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – High-flying fun and adventure return to the Coshocton County Fairgrounds with the annual Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival.
From June 4th to the 6th, you can watch the hot air balloons take flight or fly in one yourself for a $20 donation to the Frontier Power Company’s Community Connections Fund. Phil Linne is the board chair for the event and shares what it is like to take part in the tethered ride.
“When that balloon first starts off, I get a thrill every time I’ve been in a balloon, whether it’s a tethered ride or not. That first 3, 4 feet, and I’m flying. The other thing is to me, is how amazing quiet it is once you get above the crowd, so to speak,” Linne said.
The event is free to attend and will feature fair-style food stands and vendors throughout the fairgrounds midway. Patty Cramer serves on the board for the event and she highlights one of the major events that takes place during the festival.
“The Night Glow is something that people should definately should try to come out for. That on Friday night about, between 9, 9:15. We’ll have balloons that will be out in the middle of the race track and they light up like Chinese lanterns because by that time sunset has started. It’s not completely dark when they start,” Cramer said. “Usually, it’s completely dark by the time they finish and it’s only about 15 minutes or so. But, they’ll light up and that’s probably one of the crowd favorites for taking pictures.”
Due to wind conditions, the best time to see the hot air balloons at the festival is by attending early in the morning or later in the evening. You can find more information by visiting the Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival’s website.
