ZANESVILLE, Ohio – As the school year ends teens often seek employment as a way to afford some of the things they would really like to have.

Muskingum County Ohio Means Jobs Workforce Planning Supervisor Caren Kendrick shared some summertime opportunities that area teens have to explore potential career paths, learn financial responsibility and gain work force experience.

“Ohio Means Jobs really tries to work closely with the employers in the area and as well as the job seekers, the youth of our area, to try and make those connections so they can learn their career paths, you know for the rest of their lives. See what opportunities are available in our area. See what things they’ll enjoy working towards,” Kendrick said.

Local employers from multiple career fields have reached out to her office specifically looking to hire teenage employees.

“Witten Farms, Rooster’s, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, the City of Zanesville has some seasonal jobs for youth, Genesis Workforce Development Unit offers a multiple, multiple opportunities for the youth in the area,” Kendrick said.

Kendrick advises job seekers to reach out to local employers by applying online, visiting them in person, or getting in touch with her office by calling (740) 454-6211.
