Motorcycle crash in Muskingum County results in serious injury

Zanesville, OH- The Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck that occurred at 11:40 a.m. on US 40 at Chapel Hill Road in Muskingum County.
A 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Roy-Donn Alexander, 59, of Newark, Ohio, was traveling eastbound on US 40. A 2007 Dodge pick-up truck driven by William McDonald Jr., 50, of Philo, Ohio, was traveling westbound on US 40. According to investigators, the pick-up truck failed to yield to oncoming traffic while attempting to turn left onto Chapel Hill Road.
The motorcycle attempted to avoid striking the pick-up truck by braking hard, which caused the motorcycle to overturn. The motorcycle slid on its right side on US 40 before coming to a final rest. The pick-up truck was not damaged as a result of the crash.
Mr. Alexander was transported to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center via MedFlight for injuries sustained in the crash.
Mr. Alexander was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and alcohol is not a suspected factor. The crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Falls Township Fire Department, Falls Township EMS, MedFlight, and Tanner’s Towing.
