John Ashford, 85, of Roseville, passed away on June 1, 2026, at Willow Haven Care Center in Zanesville. John was born on March 10, 1941, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Franklin and Henrietta (Gillespie) Ashford. He was the owner of Ashford Insurance Company on Main Street in Roseville, where he built a respected business and served generations of families with honesty and care. Through his work, John earned the trust of his customers and the admiration of his neighbors. He understood the value of personal service and took pride in helping others with patience, integrity, and a genuine concern for their well-being. John proudly served his country during the Vietnam era as a member of the United States Army. His military service was an important part of his life, and he carried the values of duty, discipline, and patriotism with him long after his time in uniform. He was also a 59-year member of the Roseville American Legion, where he remained connected to fellow veterans and continued to honor the traditions of service and camaraderie. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Deavertown, Doric #172, and he valued the fellowship and principles of that brotherhood. John was also a former member of Ebenezer Country Church, where he shared in the life of faith and community. His involvement in these organizations reflected the importance he placed on friendship, service, and belonging. He is survived by his wife, Carol, daughter, Lori Fowles and grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Henrietta; his son, James Ashford; his sister, Betty Jean Ashford; and his brother, Mikal Ashford. No formal services will take place and a dignified cremation will take place under the direction of Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 33 N. Main Street, Roseville.
