Allman Named ArtCOZ Artist of the Month for June

ZANESVILLE, OH- John Allman has been named the ArtCOZ Artist of the month of June.
Allman says he began creating art when he was a boy but life got in the way so he hung it up for a while. He says he rediscovered his passion after watching Bob Ross and William Alexander on PBS and drew many inspirations for his work from them.
“I like to do landscapes of Southwestern scenes.” Allman said. “I like to do Native American portraits, you know anything Southwest, I even do cacti, which I don’t have any of them here because they’re a little bit bigger. I really enjoy painting and I enjoy using a lot of color as you can obviously see.”
He says it’s a magical feeling capturing what he’s seen in person on to the canvas for the community to enjoy.
Allman will be down at Julie’s ARTery, located at 53 S. 7th St., for the First Friday Artwalk to check out what he has on display.
“It’s a tremendous honor there, especially, like I said, being from Cambridge, it’s a great honor.” Allman said. “To be associated with all the fantastic artists in Zanesville and the area, both male and female there, there are a lot of artists that I envy, their talent I mean is just amazing and just how easy some of them do it, but it’s really an honor to be mentioned with all those people.”
Julie’s ARTery will be open from 5 to 8PM on Friday for the Artwalk and is located at 53 S 7th St. in Zanesville.
