Construction starts on Rosecrans’ first football stadium

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – For the first time in the long history of Bishop Rosecrans High School they will get to have a true home field.
This week construction started behind the high school on the their first ever on-site football stadium. Previously the Bishops football team rented out Zanesville High School’s Sulzberger Stadium on Saturdays.
First year Rosecrans athletic director Gage Lotozo said the yet-to-be-named stadium will hold about 800 spectators. It will be equipped with permanent lights for night games and will be utilized by the school’s soccer teams as well. Chris Zemba is in charge of construction of the stadium, in addition to being a Rosecrans alum, and he said he can’t wait for it to open.
“I don’t know if you can describe the feeling of when these kids are going to be able to run out of this school onto their home field. And knowing the home game will be at your school that night is a feeling that is hard to describe,” Zemba said.
The first game at the stadium will be Aug. 25 when the Rosecrans football team takes on Beallsville.
