The Muskingum Recreation Center will hold their 5th Annual Red, White, and Run 5K on the 4th of July. Event Manager Becky Weir says with good weather expected, they hope to see plenty of community members participating.

“It is a 5K run, and we’ll start right here by the Muskingum Recreation Center sign, and go down an up and around the Rogge Pavilion, and it’s going to be a great day. I know it’s going to be sunny this year…so if you haven’t registered yet, we just want everybody to come out and get registered. It’s going to be a great time and just have a wonderful 4th of July,” said Becky Weir, Event and Program Manager for the Rec Center.

The registration deadline to be guaranteed a t-shirt was Monday, June 19th but Weir said they would be extending that deadline until Wednesday, June 21st. Participants are also encouraged to wear their most patriotic outfits as a small prize will be given for the most creative attire.

“We are actually going to give part of the money, which the Rotary Clubs have donated from Zanesville, to fund some scholarships for swim lessons. Also it will go to purchase and help the Muskingum Recreation Center in a new piece of equipment,” added Weir.
