Lucille Riffle, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in McConnelsville, Ohio.

Born on October 29, 1943, in McLuney, one of numerous siblings to the late, Charles Gilbert Sr., and Hazel (Adkins) Riffle.

Throughout her life, Lucille embraced every moment with a spirited heart. Once her health no longer permitted her to live independently, she made the loving decision to reside at Riverside Landing in McConnelsville. There, she spent her final years surrounded by a community she held dear, engaging wholeheartedly in daily activities and fostering friendships with fellow residents. Known affectionately as one of the “bosses” at Riverside Landing, Lucille thrived on participating in craft-making sessions and playing BINGO, filling her days with laughter and connection. Lucille’s home life was filled with cherished routines. When living on her own, she delighted in taking peaceful walks and sitting on her front porch, observing the neighborhood with a watchful eye. A lover of quiet pursuits, she often found solace and stimulation in word searches, exercising her mind and enjoying moments of reflection. Beyond these hobbies, she treasured watching reruns of the Andy Griffith Show, finding comfort in its timeless charm. Those who knew Lucille remember her as a true sweetheart; a woman whose caring nature and fiery spirit left a lasting impression on all she encountered.

Left behind to mourn her passing are her special niece and caregiver for more than 30 years, Mindy (Donnie) Cottrell, her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Riffle; as well as many other special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lucille is preceded in death by her fiancé, Doc Harris; her siblings, Rosie Harris, Eldon “Ting” Riffle, Elmer Riffle, Robert Riffle, Jack Riffle, Lawrence Riffle, Harold Riffle and Charles Riffle Jr., her half-sisters, Helen, Bernice, Ollie, Blanche and Evaline as well as her brother-in-law, Howard Harris.

Visitation will be held on June 19, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Goebel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 36 North Buckeye Street in Crooksville, Ohio. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM, Lucille will then be laid to rest in Illiff Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt appreciation to the residents and caring staff at Riverside Landing for offering Lucille support and allowing her to be part of the community.
