Marjorie Shiplett

Marjorie (Shiplett) Owen gained her wings on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the age of 100 years old.

Born April 25, 1925 in New Lexington, Ohio to the late Delbert and Ruth Williams Shiplett.

She was a lifelong resident of Perry County and a lifetime member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, now known as the Covenant Community Church where she was involved in many activities and loved her church. A 1944 graduate of New Lexington High School where she was a Homecoming Queen and later was employed as a teachers aide. Marjorie was best known for all her beautiful homemade crafts that she and her cousin, Marcella Spangler would spend many hours selling at many craft bazars including Backwoods Fest., Mike Clum Christmas, Ohio State Fair and many in between.

Marjorie is survived by her three sons, Charles (Kathy) Owen, Larry Owen and Jeff (Kathy) Owen; her grandchildren, Scott (Shevon) Owen, Heather (Logan) Randles, Amber (Jason) Daly, Lauren Owen, Michael (Andy) Owen, Matt (Tiffany) Owen and Derek Schmidt; her great-grandchildren, Drake, Cash and Charlie Owen, Evyn and Kai Randles, Canyon and Ivy Daly, Ethan, Charlotte and Hailey Owen.

In addition to her parents, preceded in death by her husband, Charles Owen, Sr.; her brothers, Paul Shiplett, Delbert “Doc” Shiplett and a daughter –in-law, Jan Owen.

Per her wishes, no calling hours and Private Family graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at New Lexington Cemetery with Pastor Sanford Short officiating.

The family would like to Thank all the Staff at Altercare of Somerset, Ohio for their continuous loving care and to the cooks for always making sure she had her grilled cheese.
