Anne Colopy

Phyllis “Anne” Colopy, 96, of Zanesville went to be with her Lord on July 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Anne was born in Marion, OH on August 30, 1929, to the late Walter and Laura Grigsby Dodrill. She married Leo Ambrose Colopy on September 9, 1950, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
Anne graduated from Good Samaritan Nursing school in 1950 and worked for 35 years for Dr. Gilliotte and then 12 years for her son, Dr. Kevin Colopy. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and St. Mary Mattingly Settlement where she sang in both the Folk and Resurrection choirs. Anne led the Children of God prayer group, was a member of the St. Thomas Altar Society and was a Eucharistic minister to the sick and shut-ins of the parish for over 30 years. She was a wonderful homemaker and well known for her delicious cooking. Her macaroni salad and pecan tassies are two of her family’s favorite dishes. Every year she and Leo worked hard on their garden and stored a year’s worth of corn, beans, applesauce and jam among other foods.
Anne is survived by five children, Craig (Bonnie) Colopy, Terry Colopy, Dr. Kevin (Mary Jane) Colopy, Lora (Jon) Anders and Eric (Karen) Colopy; a daughter-in-law Leslie Colopy of Nashport; thirteen grandchildren: Jenne (John) Liber, Sara Colopy, Brian (Erica) Colopy, Kyle (Ali) Colopy, Michelle (Michael) Gromofsky, Erin Colopy, Adam (Alyssa) Colopy, Kurt (Allie) Colopy, Jesse (Lisa) Anders, Jeremy (Kaylie) Anders, Joshua Anders, Austin (Haeley) Colopy and Abbey Colopy; three step-grandchildren: Jennifer (Ted) Marum, Jessica (Trinity) Mahnke Avalos and Michael (Stefanie) Mahnke; twenty-six great-grandchildren: Meaghan, Joshua, Maggie, Tyler, Noah, Violet, Eleanor, Leo, Oliver, Winston, Iris, Eli, Liam, Grace, Nicholas, Emma, Charlotte, Colten, Caitlin, Artemis, Lysander, Laura, Elias, Jude, Isaac and Lyla; six step great-grandchildren: Addison, Teagan, Riley, Connor, Dylan and Graham; sister-in-law Beatrice Colopy and nieces and friends.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Leo Colopy; her son, Tom Colopy and her sister, Ruth (Bob) Carskadden.

Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 6:00PM with the Rosary at 5:45 PM, on Sunday July 5, 2026, at the Bryan and Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Avenue, Zanesville, OH. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 6, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 6280 St. Mary’s Road, Nashport, OH with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Mattingly Settlement Cemetery.
