Young Washington Set to Hit Theaters

ZANESVILLE, OH – With America 250 celebrations continuing across the country, a new film hitting theaters this summer is taking audiences back to the nation’s earliest days. The movie is called Young Washington.

“It’s kind of an on the nose title. It is about George Washington’s life when he’s young. And it’s a period of his life that a lot of people don’t know anything about, I certainly did not until I came onto the movie. But it’s basically about his life from age, we start when he’s 11 but it’s mostly about his age between 18 and 24.” Tom Provost, the Co-Screenwriter said.

Provost says the film explores a side of Washington that many people may not be familiar with, highlighting the challenges, decisions, and defining moments that helped prepare him for leadership.

The movie arrives as communities across the country continue marking America’s 250th anniversary.

“This is not a political film. It is a biopic. It’s not like a rah rah America movie. Although it it very uplifting ultimately by the end. As we come to the 250th we certainly seem to be a fairly divisive place at least politically. And we like to think that it’s a movie that can hopefully unite people and make us think yeah we are the United States of America and whatever our political differences we can stand together be proud of our country and work together to, as our director John Erwin talks about, keep the experiment of America going forward.” Provost said.

Provost hopes the movie helps audiences see the person behind the legacy and gain a greater appreciation for Washington’s journey.

Young Washington hits theaters , just ahead of Independence Day.
