Robert “Bob” Mahaffey

Robert “Bob” David Mahaffey, 87, of Zanesville passed peacefully, surrounded by his family at 6:05 PM Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
He was born on Tuesday, January 10, 1939, in Toboso, Ohio, the son of the late Carlos E. Mahaffey and Effie May Buckey Mahaffey.
Bob was a member of Coburn United Methodist Church. He was active with his Ohio and Florida Church families serving on various committees and men’s groups. Bob retired in 1992 after 36 years as Manager of Cooper Industries and later worked for Byrd ambulance after retirement. He enjoyed working out in the yard, golfing and was an avid OSU fan. Bob sang for over 20 years in the gospel quartets, “The Gospel 4” and “The Gospelaires”. Most recently Bob sang with “The Zanesville Greater Singers”. He was past Master of Jackson #85 F & AM, Brownsville, Ohio. His life was the Lord, his wife, and his three children.
He is survived by his three children, Stacie Mahaffey, Jeffrey (Vickie) Mahaffey, Lynne Hitchcock; 7 grandchildren, Jayme Hicthcock, Lindsey (Blake) Jones, Stephaney Hitchcock, Gracie (Tyler) Tracey, Rachel Clapper, Cody (Erin) Huey, and Jessica (TJ) Baker; 8 great-grandchildren, Kylah Hitchcock, Cameron Hitchcock, Karter Campbell, Issac Huey, Lydiah Huey, Jaycie Huey, Laila (Aaron) Clark, Lyla Sims, Liam Spragg, Bryce Johnson, Callen Spragg and Evelynne Jones; a sister, Emma Partlow; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Mahaffey; his brothers James Mahaffey, Donald Mahaffey, Richard Mahaffey and infant brother Sammy Mahaffey; and sisters, Margie Leake and infant sister Ruth Marie Mahaffey.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Coburn United Methodist Church where funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bill Cronk officiating. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park.
