Evelyn Bates

Evelyn Lucille Bates, 90 of Zanesville passed away on July 9, 2026 at Genesis Hospital.
Evelyn was born on August 14, 1935 in Sayre, Ohio to the late Russell and Evelyn Plant Embrey. She was a 1953 Graduate of McLuney High School. She retired from Genesis Health Care System as an administrative assistant after 14 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed eating at Tee Jaye’s, doll collecting, and camping.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth Bates, a daughter Vicky Peterson, three step-sons: Glenn Bates, Leonard Bates, and Stephan Bates, two sisters: Sue (Tom) Toki and Viola Malcolm, 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons Glenn Sidwell and Gary Sidwell.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Tuesday July 14 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday in The Snouffer Chapel with Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in Portersville.
