America’s Basket Festival 2026

DRESDEN, Ohio – It seems as though each area community celebrates an independent culture that has woven its way into American history.  

This weekend, the Village of Dresden will celebrate its basket crafting heritage through multiple activities and events that are scheduled throughout the day on Saturday.

“We have an auction and we have 120 plus items available. And there’s going to be a lot of unique gifts, a lot of rare items that are going to be auctioned off and history as well. Then we have over 50 vendors with unique items. And then one thing we have is basket repairs. And so a lot of people in the community have a lot of baskets and if they need something minor done, like a splint or a handle put back on, we have that station set up. So bring that tomorrow. And it’s cash and carry. They’ll do it right there on the site,” America’s Basket Festival Committee Member and Marketing Director Teri Clapper said.

The festival also showcases the present day basket making operations of Dresden And Company Baskets and the Longaberger brand that still employ local craftsmen and continue the heritage.

“We do have food trucks there as well as all of the local restaurants,” Clapper said. “I highly recommend you check those out. The stores have specials and discounts and festival items available. And a shop receipt at our participating stores will also get you entry into the prizes as well. Registration will be open tomorrow starting at 8:30. And that will be located at 517 Main Street. And it is a free event to attend. You don’t have to register but the benefit is that we have gifts and you’ll be entered into a drawing for prizes at the end of the day.”
