Youth group travels more than 500 miles to volunteer

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A youth group from New Jersey traveled to Zanesville to help prepare hot meals for Christ’s Table.
Every year the youth group does a mission trip to help out the community, and because their church’s pastor previously was a pastor in Zanesville, they added Christ’s Table to their trip.
“We’ve been working here for several days, said Youth Group Advisor Kristin Schoelkopf. “We’re doing everything from serving, cooking, and we did a garden at Bethel Community Center. They needed to have it all landscaped and mulched.”
Schoelkopf says she’s so happy the kids are able to help others but, it’s a two-way street.
It’s fantastic for our kids because they need to know that they can reach out and that they have the power to change the world, said Schoelkopf. “They have the power to do things and to change communities. It’s been great for the community because they have been able to meet these young kids, sees these young kids, their enthusiasm and that’s always infectious.
Schoelkopf says it’s great that they can do a mission trip in the United States, so you are able to help those in their backyard.
