Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Dog of the Week; Meet Mae!

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This week’s dog of the week is a big girl with a big heart. Meet Mae! She’s a spayed female cattle dog mix who keeps a clean kennel and is ready to find her next home. Mae found her way to the Muskingum County Sheriff’s K-9 Adoption Center after her previous owner passed away and is ready for her next chapter.

“She loves to be quite the companion, lay at your feet. She is a little overweight. You might want to watch her diet, only go on short walks, would have to be in the house. Seems to do very well with kids and other dogs as well,” said Doug McQuaid, a volunteer with the K-9 Adoption Center.

Mae is estimated to be around 12 years old and does very well on a leash. She does well with kids and dogs but isn’t a fan of cats. McQuaid recommends bringing your other dogs in for a meet-and-greet to see if your next dog is compatible.

“We always offer a meet-and-greet. So that’s something if you do have another dog, you’re welcome to bring her in, we have a wonderful play yard, we have areas inside of our building where it’s nice and cool and comfortable. So there’s different ways you can spend a lot of time with just trying to find out if maybe this is the right dog for you and right dog for her,” McQuaid said.
