Annual Civil War Reenactment and Encampment

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The annual Civil War Reenactment and Encampment took place on the Lorena Sternwheeler.
Captain William Page came up with the idea eight years ago and the event started after about five years of planning. Each year the event becomes bigger and bigger.
“It started pretty well,” said Page. “We were running a full boat and selling tickets on the boat. From that, it sold out, usually about a month prior. It has really taken off.”
Page said he enjoys doing the reenactment because it has been well received and is something out of the ordinary.
“I remember the commemoration, and I don’t really know why it stopped,” said Prince. “It’s something that brings the community together that they all have an interest in. I think they are very interested in what is going on. I think it brings the community together just as the commemoration did.”
The second day of the reenactment and encampment will be tomorrow. You can see it at Zane’s Landing Park or Riverside Park.
