George Guy
George E. Guy, 69, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren.
George was born on August 28, 1956, in Zanesville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward P. Guy and Clara (Goins) Guy; his nephew, Brooks Guy; his father-in-law, Robert L. Norris; his mother-in-law, Esther M. Norris; his sister-in-law, Marie Mayle; and his brother-in-law, William “Butch” Norris.
George leaves behind the love of his life and devoted wife of 49 years, Peggy N. Guy. He is also survived by his children, Joshua (Mackenzie) Guy and Erica Guy-Evans; his five beloved grandchildren, Donovan (Tabby) Guy, Cameron Guy, Ryan Guy, Kanye Evans, and Karcyn Evans; and his great-granddaughter, Kahlaia Guy.
He is also survived by his brother, Donald Guy of Hagerstown, Maryland; his sisters, Carol (Thomas) Murphy of Kissimmee, Florida, Catherine (Terry) McLarney of Glenwood, Maryland, and Cynthia Guy of Laurel, Maryland; his brothers-in-law, Roger (Kaci) Norris, Robert L. Norris Jr., and Aaron (Tracey) Norris; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
George graduated from Wheaton High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. He proudly served in law enforcement for 20 years before fulfilling his dream of owning his own business. He founded GEG Cleaning, a commercial cleaning company, where he worked alongside his grandsons until his retirement.
A devoted sports fan, George cheered faithfully for the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. However, nothing compared to his love and unwavering support for the Zanesville Blue Devils. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the Zanesville Esquire Club for many years.
Above all else, George’s greatest joy in life was his family. He cherished every opportunity to watch his children and grandchildren grow, attend their events, celebrate their accomplishments, and simply spend time together. Anyone who knew George knew that being a father and grandfather wasn’t just a role—it was his greatest purpose. Rarely was he seen without one of his grandchildren by his side, and the love he had for them was evident in every moment they shared.
George will be remembered for his strength, unwavering dedication to his family, quiet generosity, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lives he touched, and the countless memories that will forever be held close by those who loved him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate George’s life on Monday, August 3, 2026. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Burrell’s Funeral Service, followed by a repast from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Blockhouse Event Center on State Street in Zanesville, Ohio. The family welcomes all who knew and loved George to join them in honoring his life, sharing memories, and celebrating the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.
