James Paul Cronin, 74, of Zanesville passed away on Tuesday August 4, 2026
He was born in Zanesville on January 24, 1952 to the late James Eldon Cronin and Ida Ellen Maxwell Cronin Barks. Jim was a 1970 Graduate of Zanesville High School. He was a retired Carpenter and Police Officer with Zanesville Police Department. Jim was a member of AMVETS, VFW Post 1058, Scottish Rite 32degree Mason Valley of Cambridge, and was Catholic by faith. He enjoyed Birds, Cats, and Rock Collecting. Jim served our country and protected our freedom by serving in The United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He was a gifted musician having played the saxophone in the Marine Corps Band.
He is survived by a son Samuel (Amanda) Cronin, a daughter Sarah (Mark) Goodrich, 10 grandchildren: Adrick Cronin, Kammi Cronin, Kenzi Cronin, Sydney Cronin, Penelope Cronin, Sophia Cronin, Gavin Goodrich, Ariston Goodrich, Slade Mahon, and Aeydon Wells, step brother Billy (Pam) Barks, uncle Bob Maxwell, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister Becky (Bob) Sayre, a brother Jon (Lisa) Cronin, nieces and nephews: Scott (Pere) Kimble, Rachael Cronin, Renae (Gary Caliman) Elliott, Adam Cronin, Madison (Tyler Wood) Elliott, and Matthew Elliott.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his uncle Richard Maxwell.
A celebration of life will be from 5-7pm on Monday August 10 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. At 7pm Full Military Honors will be given.
The Snouffer Crematory has been entrusted with cremation care.
