Join the Meow-A-Thon with Chatty Cat at Taste of Ohio
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – National Cat Day is this Saturday and what better way to celebrate than to help cats in need. This weekend at Taste of Ohio Wine Bourbon and Beer, you can take part in a fun fundraiser for the welfare of felines.
The first-of-its-kind Meow-A-Thon is organized by the owner of the Chatty Cat Café and Chatty Cat Closet, Erica Roberts. Both Chatty Cat businesses can be found in the Colony Square Mall in Zanesville but Roberts is bringing this event downtown for a unique experience.
“… and essentially it’s a pretty neat concept I’m really excited about. So it’s a giant game show and different levels and different games are going to be unlocked by reaching certain levels of donation,” Roberts said. “So for example, once we reach a certain level of donations, we’re going to unlock cat karaoke or the inflatable cat race or pie in the face. Lots of different things are going to be happening as people are sending in their donations. It kind of unlocks different pieces of the game. ”
All funds raised go to support the Chatty Cat Compassion Fund, which helps cover the veterinary bills of the adoptable foster cats found at the Chatty Cat Cafe. If you are unable to attend Saturday nights event, Roberts plans to give you a chance to join the fun remotely.
“So we hope that we’re going to be able to live stream different pieces of the game as they’re unlocked so that way people that are tuning in from Facebook are able to send in donations and unlock different pieces of the game as well,” Roberts said.
The Chatty Cat Café has helped more than 500 cats find their forever home at the time of reporting, with no signs of slowing down. With a fundraising goal of $2,000, Roberts lays out all of the ways you can participate in the Meow-A-Thon aside from unlocking game show milestones.
“Now, in person of course, there’s going to be mocktails for the event. There’s going to be cocktails as well through Taste of Ohio that are themed for the fundraiser and then we also have different raffles that we’re going to be doing like the litter robot which is pretty cool. We’ve also got tickets to the Clippers that will be in that as well. So kind of a lot of things happening in person and then you’re also able to participate through the live stream as well,” Roberts said.
The Meow-A-Thon is taking place on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. and will be live-streamed on the Chatty Cat Cafe’s Facebook.
