A new Junior Fair barn dedicated at the Muskingum County Fair

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A new Junior Fair Cattle barn was dedicated at the Muskingum County Fair.
The barn will hold most of the cattle. Junior Fair Live Stock Chairman, Jim Porter, said the dedication and opening of this barn has been in the works for over three years. This building is the second phase of the Junior Fair building improvements and expansion. He said this multiple phase project is dedicated to Vicky Reed.
“We were fortunate enough last year to dedicate a new Junior Fair office in memory of Vicky Reed,” said Porter. “She passed away in 2013. She was a long time 4-H educator here in Muskingum County. So we thought it would be nice to dedicate the buildings for her.”
Porter said this building was necessary. Junior Fair used to rent a tent for goats and cattle, which were scattered throughout the fairgrounds. They are now all in one location. Porter said this is important because 4-H children are our future.
“I always comment that you don’t see too many of our past 4-H kids in our jail,” said Porter. “It teaches them good work ethics, leadership skills, and these kids are our future. They are worth every penny.”
Porter said the barn cost $250,000, all of which was privately donated.
