Leaping Lizards

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local organization that advocates for the education and the acceptance of reptiles is looking for sponsors to help expand their operation.
Cherie Bronkar and her Daughter Lily operate Leaping Lizards Adventure, which makes stops at local schools and libraries, speak about the work they do and the difference it makes.
“We work with Big Brothers, Big Sisters to go into their Lunch Buddies Program and that brought us to where we noticed that the schools were not able to get us in,” Cherie said. They didn’t have the funding for that. So what we wanted to do was come up for a way for businesses to sponsor us as an advertising packet. And that would allow us to be able to go into the schools and see all the kids. That way we weren’t walking past all the other kids that didn’t get to see us and then only doing the Lunch Buddies Kids. So we want a way to bring it to everyone.”
A typical presentation introduces the students to the reptiles through a half hour discussion before offering them the opportunity to experience a variety of animals hands-on, if they choose. However, current funding limits the number of presentations that are available for the area youth.
“So what we have are: a Community Sponsor for $150, what that gets you is your name listed on the Take Home sheet; we have a School Assembly Partner, and that would be $350 and that’s a medium logo. Like here are the large logo’s from last year. It’s a medium logo on here, along with a mention during the presentations and a mention on our social media. The Platinum Sponsor is $550 and it means that we get to say, this program is presented by your business. You get a large logo on the student take home sheet,” Cherie said.
