PERRY COUNTY, OH – The American Red Cross staff and volunteers have been working through the early morning hours to provide shelter for residents in Perry County who have been forced out of their homes due to dangerous flash flooding.

Currently the Red Cross has 3 shelters set up throughout Perry County; Crooksville Middle School serving 58 residents, The Perry County Fairgrounds in New Lexington serving 9 residents, and the Corning-Monroe Civic Center which has no residents.

Anyone in need of Red Cross assistance can call 1-800-Red Cross or go to one of the shelters. In addition to the shelter operations, the Red Cross has received a request to provide canteen services for approximately 50 emergency response personnel supporting incident command operations. Teams are currently assembling resources and personnel to meet that need.
