Nora Allen

Nora Louise Allen, 75, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully while in the loving presence of her family at her residence on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. She was born July 10, 1951, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Paul Cheek and Dorothy McGrath Cheek.
Nora was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy came from caring for the people she loved. Family was at the center of her life, and she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a generous and caring nature and spent much of her life looking after others, including helping care for her younger siblings following the death of their parents.
Nora was a member of the Eagles, VFW, and American Legion and was a longtime member of Green Valley Golf League, known as “Friends of Green Valley” for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time on the course and treasured the many friendships she made there.
She had a special love for animals, especially horses, dogs, and cats, and enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. Nora loved dancing “The Bump” with her husband, Robert, and the two shared many happy times together.
Nora is survived by her husband, Robert Allen; her daughter, Angie Gianettino (Samuel); two grandchildren, Jaden and Kaylynn Gianettino; her siblings, Paul “Buddy” Cheek and Joseph Cheek; as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her brother, William Cheek; her sisters, Barbara Wilson Hamler and Dorothy “Susie” Cheek; her brother-in-law, Alan Hamler; and her mother- and father-in-law, June and Bernard Allen.
Nora will be remembered for her kind and loving heart, her devotion to her family, her love of animals and the outdoors, and the happiness she found in life’s simple pleasures. She leaves behind many cherished memories, and her warmth, generosity, and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Per her wishes the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Muskingum Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio.
A celebration of Nora’s life will take place at a later date.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, AT OUR LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED CREMATORY.
