A business rebranded at the inaugural Startup Weekend

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Muskingum County Business Incubator has rebranded its name.
The MCBI changed their name to Spark Five Sixty. The company chose to announce their re-branding during their inaugural Startup Weekend at Zane State College. The name change was done to prioritize the start of a new company.
“Five Sixty is the five years or 60 months that it’s most risky for a business to be created, pivot, and change,” said Roth. “It’s the time that it takes to make a change in a business. Spark Five Sixty is going to work with businesses through that five years or 60 months.”
Prizes were given out for the top three ideas that were pitched. The winner of the grand prize received over $3,000 worth of business helping services, such as Brand Development Assistance and law advice for businesses from Benesch Attorneys.
“We put these fantastically dedicated entrepreneurs through a 54 hour crash course in entrepreneurship,” said Roth. “They build out the idea, develop a business plan, and build a pitch. A five-minute pitch to communicate the effectiveness of their idea. The effectiveness of their business model and why we should care about it.”
Roth said about 25 people were part of the inaugural Startup Weekend.
