Price-gouging concerns addressed by county prosecutor

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – While Governor DeWine was in Crooksville Wednesday, he addressed the concerns of potential price-gouging by hotels and gas stations. Now the Muskingum County Prosecutor has reached out to address the concerns himself.

Muskingum County Prosecutor’s office released a press release on Friday saying they have been in contact with the Ohio Attorney General’s office. That same press release says State Attorney General Andy Wilson and his staff are evaluating the situation to determine an appropriate course of action.

While Ohio does not have statutes against price gouging specifically, the attorney general’s office is evaluating if the conduct violates the Ohio Consumer Slaes and Practices Act or other consumer laws.
