Deonta Morgan

Deonta Ruiz Morgan, 33, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2026, just days before his 34th birthday.
Deonta was truly one of a kind. You could count on a vibrant contagious laugh and smile that was always followed by a joke or silly dance. Dually, he was someone who was never afraid to stand for what was right. Deonta was a devoted family man and homebody. He was happiest simply being with the people he loved, especially his children. Family was everything to him, and he showed that love in the things he did to make memories with them. Every summer, he made sure his family had lake passes so they could spend their days together creating memories. When he wasn’t with his family, you could often find him at home gaming—one of his favorite ways to relax.
Deonta is survived by his lifelong partner, Kaci Sims; children, Aaliyah and Draegan; parents, Kathy Morgan and Gerald (Renee) Morgan; siblings, Ashla, Tia, Braxton, Aayla, and Rashawn; nieces and nephews, Kaybren, Alyria, Addison, A’Marie, and Aarlo; and many beloved family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wanda and David Morgan and Robert Brandfass.
Deonta’s life was far too short, but it was filled with what mattered most to him—family, love, laughter, and time together. Those who loved him will remember not only the way he lived, but the way he loved his family. The memories he created, especially with his children, will carry a piece of him forward forever.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
Friends and family may call on the family on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 2pm until 4 pm and 6pm until 8pm. There will be words of comfort starting around 7pm all at Burrell Funeral Services in Zanesville. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
