New Owner, Same Tradition at Terry’s Tavern

ZANESVILLE, OH – A longtime local favorite has some new faces behind the bar.

Terry’s Tavern is officially under new ownership. The new owner, Duane Morris, says he’s excited to take over, with plans to make some upgrades while keeping the familiar atmosphere customers have come to know. And part of that vision is making the most of what’s right outside the back door, the river.

“I’m going to redo the dock system, paint, get some lighting out here, and bring the vibe back. Kind of upgrade it. No changes, just build upon what’s already here. But this has amazing views and scenes. I don’t know anywhere where you can actually pull up on a boat and walk into a restaurant. So, super excited about that.” Morris said.

For Morris, taking over means more than putting his own touch on the place, it means carrying on the history and traditions that have kept people coming back for years.

“Tradition. History. People like history and tradition and I want to carry on what the previous owner did and the owners before that. And I’m proud to do that.” Morris said.

And he hopes to build on that history, with plans to bring back boating and fishing tournaments.

Terry’s Tavern is located at 700 Linden Avenue in Zanesville.
