Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Dog of the Week; Meet Slinky!

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Dog of the Week just wants to be a lap dog!

Meet Slinky! He’s a one-year-old basset, lab mix who’s dog friendly, walks well on a leash, and is searching for his forever family.

Doug McQuaid, a Volunteer at the K-9 Adoption Center, says Slinky never meets a stranger and wants to get as much love as he can from his new friends.

“He’s for someone who would love to give a dog a lot of attention, loves to be on your couch, and you can tell he’s very boisterous, will speak a lot.” McQuaid said. “Will even possibly talk to you while you’re sitting there, so someone who would do good with a dog like that would be super.”

McQuaid wanted to thank the community for braving the elements and coming out to the Sheriff’s tent last week at the Fair.

He says it was amazing to see the amount of people that stopped by to share stories and photos of their furry friends as well as purchasing t-shirts to help support pups like Slinky.

“We’re always in need of volunteers.” McQuaid said. “Just like Slinky, he came into us as a stray, we don’t know much about him. You as volunteers are able to find out many great things about our pups, help the staff be able to talk to the people that come in and want to adopt a dog and it’s very, very important that we have knowledge of the pup they’re trying to adopt.”
