Charles P. “Chuck” Merryman, 87, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at his residence. He was born February 24, 1939, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Clair and Alyce Patton Merryman. He was a 1957 Graduate of Hopedale High School, where he led the Comets to a State Championship in football as quarterback, while his high school sweetheart, now wife, cheered him on the sidelines. He loved watching Cleveland Guardians Baseball, the Cleveland Browns and cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes. He also enjoyed watching western movies. He served and protected our freedom while serving in the US Army in Germany.
He is survived by his wife Jean Penoyer Merryman; daughters, Christe (Jeff) Lepi, Tracey (Adam) Ruby; and a son Charles “Todd” (Noelle) Merryman; nine grandchildren, Audra, Tyler, Luke, Hannah, Alyssa, Cain, Chase, Faith and Emma; ten great grandchildren; three brothers, Guy (Laurie) Merryman, Gordon (Barbara) Merryman and Jon (Debbie) Merryman.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 2 PM at Fort Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, Ohio.
