Gary Lee Calvey, 62, of Cambridge, passed away Saturday (August 29, 2026) at his home after a long fight with pancreatic cancer.

He was born September 29,1963 in Cambridge, son of Carol (Barlow) Howell and the late John Howell.

A 1982 graduate of Meadowbrook High School, Gary earned his CDL and began working in the oil field and trucking industry for many years, specifically for NFI as a yard dog for most of his career.

Gary was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.

He cherished hanging out with his family and friends whenever he could. He truly loved piloting the family RV around during their vacations.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bussy; and by his sister, Kim Ford.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Kathy (Collins) Calvey, whom he married June 4, 1988; his mother, Carol Howell; his three sons: John Calvey of Newark, Billy (Tiffanie) Calvey of Cambridge, and Cameron Calvey of Cambridge; his daughter, Tiffany (Dustin) McClain of Newark; his three brothers: Burnnie Calvey of Uhrichsville, Grady Calvey of Uhrichsville, and Troy Howell of Mansfield; his three sisters: Theresa Best of Uhrichsville, Robin Goff of Mansfield, and Jackie Yerian of Cambridge; his eight grandchildren: Madison, Teagan, Abigail, Olivia, Emma, Jacob, Paxton, and Gauge; his brother-in-law, Mark Collins of Byesville; and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday (September 4, 2026) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.
