Applications are open for the Salvation Army’s Angel Trees and more

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It may sound a little early to discuss Christmas programs, but the Salvation Army opened applications today for holiday assistance programs.

The Salvation Army Zanesville Corps is taking applications for its food box program, its Coats for Kids program, and its Angel Tree program. The Angel Tree program allows a child’s wish list items to be listed on paper tree ornaments around Zanesville for donors to buy and donate to the Salvation Army. The non-profit then sorts and distributes them in December.

“Everyone that signs up for an Angel Tree is also eligible for a family food box. If you intend to have food only, no children in the home, you can still come the next two weeks, pick up an application,” said Seth Hall, an envoy of the Salvation Army. “And Coats for Kids, and I would emphasize that if you think that you’re going to need assistance for coats this year, I would strongly recommend you go ahead and sign up for Angel Tree as well. It is infinitely easier to try and accommodate those early in the process than waiting till December.”

You can pick up an application this week and next week on Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. ot 3 p.m. All you need to pick up your application and schedule your appointment is a photo ID.

“We want to help those within the community that need it. We’re all going to be on one side of that or the other at some point, right? So if you are on the side where you’re in a position to give, by all means, sponsor and volunteer. If this happens to be a season where you need something, by all means, come down.”
