ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Time to visit the Muskingum County Sheriff’s K-9 Adoption Center to meet our Dog of the Week.

Meet Casper! This 4-month-old German Shepherd/Terrier mix has lived with dogs and cats, and is friendly with everyone. Adoption center volunteer, Doug McQuaid, says Casper isn’t just a friendly ghost-looking pup, he’s also a clever boy ready for his new home.

“Casper, we have found out a lot of great things about. Already is learning some new tricks and is able to sit and take a treat. As you can tell, he is a pup. He will need a lot of training, like when you first start out. Its going to just take a lot of patience, time and routine. So please, make sure that you realize that when you’re getting such a beautiful dog like this. ”

The K-9 Adoption Center still has dog food available for those who need help to keep their four-legged friends fed. McQuaid also invited people to consider volunteering at the adoption center even if you can’t handle the animals directly.

“…and oftentimes people ask me ‘you know, Doug, I don’t know for sure if I could actually walk a dog but is there anything else that you could do to be able to help? We just love animals, we just want to be a part of it.’ Yes there’s many things you can do to help. Best way to do that is to just the little things that need done here to help out. And by doing that, you’re helping out all the pups that we have. So maybe give the staff member a call, stop by. We’d love to have you volunteer. We appreciate everything you do and you’d be a major help to all the pups we have in our building.”

You can learn how to volunteer or how to adopt a dog like Casper by calling the Muskingum County Sheriff’s K-9 Adoption Center at (740)-453-0273.
