Fall for a Feline from the Animal Shelter Society

ZANESVILLE, OH – It’s time to check in with the Animal Shelter Society to see what they’ve got happening.
While there’s no featured furry friend this week, the Animal Shelter has an opportunity for you to bring home a feline of your own.
April Gibson, the Executive Director, says “Fall for a Feline” will be running until the end of the month and they have plenty of kittens as well as adult cats to choose from.
“They’re coming in but they’re going out, you know, 11 adoptions in one day, we’re proud of it and it’s working.” Gibson said. “So Fall for a Feline, $20, it includes their vaccines, everything, their altering, spay or neuter, microchips, everything for these cats. You can not get that, when you take them off the streets and this is why we have a problem in this community; even with us averaging 50 to 60 surgeries a week, for spaying and neutering cats, we can’t keep up with it.”
The Shelter is also gearing up for the Inaugural Bark, Bourbon, and Leaf happening at A Taste of Ohio, Wine, Bourbon and Beer on September 17th.
Gibson says this is one of eleven fundraisers they’ve hosted this year all to help the over 100 animals in their care.
“It is an event for men, we heard some little grumblings about the Feral Felines, which was a very successful thing for us and so yes, gentlemen, 21 and over, September 17th. The doors open at 5:30, it’s going to be from 6 to 8:30.” Gibson said. “$35 is all it is, you get a cigar with that, you can smoke it right there or you can take it home, whatever is your pleasure, and we call them nibbles there’s going to be some food there and of course for purchase, you can purchase adult beverages or sodas.”
Gibson also wanted to remind the community that they will be closed to customer service from Saturday September 5th until Tuesday September 8th for the Labor Day Holiday.
If you are interested in attending Bark, Bourbon, and Leaf or to adopt a pet, you can reach out to the Animal Shelter Society.
