Salvation Army’s Christmas Registration
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Families are able to register for Christmas Food Baskets and Toys at the end of October.
The Salvation Army collects toys and food baskets for new-born to 12 year-old, families with older children or no children are provided food baskets, and single person households are given a food basket. Office Manager Mindy McCloy said families can register October 23, 2017 throughOctober 27, 2017.
“They need to come in from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.,” McCloy said. “On Thursday however, we’re going to be here until 7:00 P.M. They need to bring in a picture I.D., Social Security Cards for everyone in their household, they need to bring in proof of their income, and their monthly bills.”
According to McCloy the Salvation Army uses donations to provide all the toys and food baskets.
“Last year we [provided for] about 1,100 children and gave out over 1,200 food baskets,” McCloy said. “It takes a whole village to raise a child. So what the community’s doing is they’re all coming together to help these children have a wonderful Christmas.”
The Salvation Army will team up with schools, businesses, and community members to raise money and get toys purchased for the families.
“We work with schools in the community and they’ll collect money, food, or both,” McCloy said. “Angels will go out into the community in November. People can then pick up an angel tag from the tree and the toys that they buy will go towards the child they choose.”
