Local Reaction to Licking County Inhumane Allegations

Allegations that the Licking County Animal Shelter is inhumanely treating animals has stirred up reaction all across Southeastern Ohio.

The Animal Shelter of Muskingum County’s Executive Director, Larry Hostetler, says if the incidents being reported are proven true, he says he is saddened and feels for the animals.

"These animals didn’t ask to end up in the shelter, and that’s what we’re here for, to provide care for them, " says Hostetler.

If the animals have to be put down, Hostetler asks that they be treated with respect.

He says the Animal Shelter in Muskingum County is truly fortunate.

"We go to extra care. I have a great staff here. We have a wonderful board of directors and a great community of volunteers that support the shelter that enables us to be able to provide better for the animals, " says Hostetler.

Hostetler says the goal is to find a great home for these animals and a loving companion for people in this community.
