Zanesville Teen Killed in Sunday Accident

The Highway Patrol says one teenager was killed in a Sunday afternoon accident in Muskingum County.

Lt. Matt Boyd says it happened just before 1:00 p.m. on Township Road 275 in Newton Township.

The Highway Patrol says 16-year-old Hayden Newland of Zanesville was driving east on Township Road 275 when he lost control traveling off the left side of the road striking an embankment, a fence and overturning.

The Patrol says a front seat passenger, 15-year-old Warren Kowalski of Zanesville was killed in the crash.

A backseat passenger, 16-year-old Gary Jones III, also of Zanesville and Newland were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
