Rite Aid Robbery Update

2017.10.23 Robbery Update

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Today, we learned new information on a robbery at a local drug store.

It happened at the Rite Aid on Main Street Sunday morning. Initial reports say an unknown man entered the business, showed a gun, and robbed the store before running on foot. Chief Tony Coury says police reviewed surveillance video at the store and have a brief description of the robber.

“It appears we are looking for a black male. Someone thin. Maybe 23 years old. In his 20’s and 30’s.”

It is believed the man targeted the pharmacy. It is unknown if he got away with anything. Police are also still working to determine whether or not a weapon was used.

“We believe he may have had a firearm, but we have not even confirmed that,” said Coury.

We reached out to Rite Aid for comment, but did not receive a response. The investigation is ongoing. If you saw anything or have any information, you are asked to give Zanesville Police a call.
