OUZ and Zane State 2+2 programs

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-  Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State College are partnering together to turn an Associate degree into a Bachelor’s degree.

The program allows students who will be getting their Associate degree from Zane State to study at OUZ for a Bachelor’s degree. There are several degrees this applies to including a degree in Social Work. OUZ Campus Dean Dr. Jeremy Webster said a Social Work degree is beneficial to the recipient and the job community.

“The social work degree ends in licensure, which is important, so you’re able to practice as a social worker in the Community,” said Webster. “There are a number of other professions that one can go into with a social work degree. Lots of Corporate jobs, other kinds of roles in the community.”

Dr. Chad Brown said creating the ‘2+2’ program has been something the two schools have been working on for some years now. This process ensured all the credits would transfer from Zane State to OUZ. He said the critical part of anything the two schools do is to give students a job after they graduate.

“Many of our students, the older students, are kind of placed bound because they have families, they’ve established a life here,” said Brown. “Many of our younger students have appreciated growing up here, so they want to remain here as well. This gives us an opportunity to provide them resources and job opportunities and a way to create an economic impact right here at home.”
