Update: Drug Bust on Shinnick Street

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Two people are in custody after a tip to the sheriff’s office led to a drug bust.
Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said the department received a complaint about illegal drug activity on a home on Shinnick Street. The Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives along with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Zanesville Police Department conducted an investigation where they recovered large amounts of money and drugs.
“We ended up seizing right around $55,000 in U.S. currency. We have probably between 30 and 40 pounds of marijuana that was recovered from the residence. We also recovered like some THC candy, some drug paraphernalia, there was a money counting machine, and so those items were seized and taken into evidence,” said Lutz.

Two adults, a man and a woman, were arrested at the home. They were transported to jail where they are awaiting charges. Sheriff Lutz said the department is working to see if there may be others involved in the operation.
“Every time we get into one of these investigations, each interview can lead to more interviews and each arrest can lead to more arrests. So obviously there’s a lot more extensive work,” said Lutz.
The suspects are expected to be charged Friday. The investigation is ongoing. If you have any information, you are asked to give the sheriff’s office a call.
