Fetch Lends a Paw Across Muskingum County

 ZANESVILLE, OH – A four-legged employee at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department is helping make difficult days a little brighter.

Fetch is a goldendoodle who has trained to become a therapy dog for nearly his entire life. He will turn 6 in December.

Fetch’s handler, Kris Headley, said he helps visitors feel more comfortable when they are anxious and provides support to health department employees during stressful workdays.

Fetch and Headley also visit people experiencing homelessness, children at WIC, nursing home residents, and local day care centers.

“It gives them an opportunity to love on a pet,” Headley said. “It also really helps people calm down and be able to talk about their feelings.”

Headley said Fetch’s work creates smiles among people of all ages and can completely change someone’s day.
