ZANESVILLE, Ohio- When the lottery hits high numbers many people flock to stores to buy a ticket, but what happens when there’s a lottery with the chance to win an elusive bottle of bourbon?

Many Ohioans will soon have a chance to win a coveted bottle of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon through the Ohio Bottle Lottery. The Winerak and other agencies that sell liquor across the state received cards into their stores. The cards have a number on it along with the agency number. The Winerak owner, Mike Alfman, said the cards are free to any Ohio resident 21 years of age or older.

“And when a person comes in and picks up the card they would then go to their computer starting today and they have until the 17th to enroll in the lottery. They put their information into the state of Ohio Liquor Control and then from all of the names that go in they draw a winner and that winner has an opportunity to come here to the Winerak and buy the bottle of Pappy Van Winkle,” said Alfman.

Pappy Van Winkle is a family collection of liquor that is only available in limited quantities. The winner will have the opportunity to purchase bottles that are either 10, 12, 15, 20, or 23 years old. For those who may not think they have a chance to win Alfman has a little drop of hope.

“Approximately 6 months ago, Ohio had their first lottery ever, this is the second time they’ve done this, and we did have one of our customers win the opportunity to buy the bottle of Pappy Van Winkle. And they were very happy and came in right away and purchased their bottle,” said Alfman.

Entries to the lottery must be submitted by November 17th. The winner will be notified by email.
