Voters talk about poll simplicity

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Election Day is finally upon us and many voters made their way to their polling locations.
There are two major issues on the ballot today. While voters didn’t want to talk to us about the issues, they were very vocal about their voting experience. Charles Savage stopped by Faith United Methodist Church to cast his vote and says the process was simple.
“The issues were really, sort of interesting. Very well written on the ballot. And very clear. And so, the new process I thought was very very easy to understand so those people who vote today they shouldn’t find it too confusing.”
This election voters in Muskingum County used a new polling system. Instead of using digital ballots, voters are given paper ballots. After selecting their choices, the voters give the ballot to the poll worker who then takes a stub from the ballot. The voter then inserts their ballot into a machine which will scan it. Betty Howard used the new system and had a positive experience with it.
“It went very easy. Registered and went over, and sit down, and mark my ballot, and it wasn’t complicated. Easy to read and easy to insert in the ballot box.”
The polls close at 7:30 p.m. and election results will be on WHIZ news, WHIZ radio, and on our website.
