Get Out the Vote takes place this weekend, helping voters get ready for the election

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Common Good Coalition is hosting a Get Out the Vote event this weekend at Putnam Hill Abolitionist Park.

Theresa Ulrich and her daughter, Elizabeth Levin, are working with the political action committee to organize the event. The primary goal of the event is to inform voters and enable them to hit the ballot box during a high-profile midterm election.

“We have invited all of the candidates to this and we’re very lucky that we’ve had so many turn out,” Levin said. “…we will also have available, for those who need it, the ability to check their voter registration status and to register to vote. ”

Several of the candidates have declined to attend, but the five who are there will be taking part in a town hall-style Q&A throughout the day. The event offers more than empowering voters, with music by Route 66, games, and you’ll even be able to watch the Buckeyes game.

“There will be music, there will be cornhole, there will be some barbecue, there will be a guy doing the grill, there will be candidates all walking around for the town hall. They will be willing to answer questions that we will pose, or someone will pose before them. It’s open to the public.”

Get Out the Vote is from 1 to 5 p.m. at Putnam Hill Abolitionist Park in Zanesville. Grilled Fare and Smokin’ Griz BBQ will be there as food options.

Laura Sirot is a Democrat who is running for the Ohio Senate.

Tim Godwin is a Libertarian running for the Ohio House.

Kristine Geis is also running for the Ohio House as an Independent.

Don Kissick is running for Ohio Governor as a Libertarian.

Jerrad Christan is the Democratic candidate in the race for U.S. Congress in Ohio’s 12th district.
