Herbert “Joe” Cowgill

Herbert “Joe” Cowgill, 80, passed away on September 29, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1946.

Joe was a graduate of Cumberland High School. He worked as a welder for Central Ohio Coal and, after his retirement, went on to start Northend Welding Shop. A hardworking and talented man, Herbert had a gift for working with his hands and could make just about anything. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion as well as a Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Martha Cowgill; and siblings, John (Alice) Cowgill, Maxine Mead, Martha Lee (Don) Dobbins, Marion Kay (John) Nethers, Jack Cowgill, and June (Dale) Geiger.

Joe is survived by his children, Jodie (Brian) Hughes, Joseph (Stephanie) Cowgill, and Angela (Linda) Lucas; grandchildren, Tyler Cowgill, Brandon Cowgill, Cheyenne Winchester and Julie Mae McCloskey; great-grandson, Kolyer McCloskey; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been chosen.
