Animal Shelter Society Launches New Barn Cat Program
ZANESVILLE, OH- The Animal Shelter Society is continuing to celebrate We Lov Pets as they gear up for their 26th anniversary.
The $10 Adoption Special on felines at the Shelter as well as at We Lov Pets kicked off last week and there’s still time to come find a furry friend.
April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Shelter, says they’ll be up there celebrating with staff members on Saturday from 9AM until 4PM but that does mean the Shelter will be closed to customer service.
She also wanted to share some exciting news for those who own a barn and might want a round the clock pest expert.
“So Benny is a very special cat to us, he came in and has one ear, he had an injury.” Gibson said. “He was pulled off the streets, a lot of these cats don’t want to be in a 3 by 3 or even a home, so we have begun our working barn cat program. There is a specific application with it, you have to feed your working cats, they’re still going to bring you mice, they’re still going to hunt for you. These cats are held in 70 degree weather and they’re fed twice a day.”
The Shelter is also eagerly preparing for the inaugural Wicked Whiskers Brunch happening at A Taste of Ohio Wine, Bourbon, and Beer on Saturday October 24th.
Gibson says costumes are encouraged for this 21 and over, ladies only morning of fun, singing, and supporting the animals.
“They do an amazing job there for us, so we’re still going to have our Feral Felines in January, February, and April at the Tiny Tap. They’re a great “paws-itive partner.” Gibson said. “But we wanted to do this one with a little bit bigger number, costumes, and it’s just going to be a really good time.”
