Guernsey Impact Initiative Helps Graduates Tackle Student Loans

CAMBRIDGE, OH – Student loans can follow graduates for years, but a new Guernsey County program is hoping to lighten the load.
The Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation is launching the Guernsey Impact Initiative for the first time. The program offers eligible graduates up to 20-thousand dollars toward their student loans for choosing to live and work in Guernsey County.
“It’s a reverse scholarship program that aims to help retain our best and brightest and bring in some new people to help boost the economy in the area.” Andrea Jackson, the Economic Development Specialist with CIC said.
Those selected will receive monthly student loan payments for four years. The program is open to college and trade school graduates and skilled professionals who meet the requirements, giving them a little extra help as they build their careers and put down roots locally.
“This is an amazing opportunity for our county and our community. The requirement is that you live and work here because we’re hoping that this helps to boost our local economy. It helps to bring in some of the new fresh faces and ideas. It also helps them set down roots here in our community.” Jackson said.
