Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic at the Perry County Fairgrounds

NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio – Getting your flu shot this year couldn’t be more convenient than the Perry County Health Department’s Annual Drive-Thru Flu Clinic.
Starting tomorrow (Friday) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can drive through the coliseum at the Perry County Fairgrounds. According to Jim Mickey, the emergency and preparedness response coordinator with the health department, you’ll get through the building vaccinated in less than 10 minutes.
“Well, it’s important to bring some identification. Bring your insurance card if you have that, although no one is turned away from public health services in Ohio for inability to pay,” said Mickey. “And wear short sleeves if you can. It’s supposed to be a beautiful day tomorrow. I believe the weather folks will tell us that, especially in the afternoon.”
You can visit the drive-thru clinic regardless of if you are a resident of Perry County or even Ohio. If you don’t have a way to travel to the clinic, Perry County Transit is offering free rides to and from the event.
“The flu shot is something you do, not only for yourself and your family, but for your neighbors and your community,” Mickey said. “So it’s important to be vaccinated from this seasonal virus so that you don’t miss work time, so you can continue to go to your children’s ball games. And you know that we’re not spreading something that no one wants to be sick for a few days or even more seriously sick and be hospitalized and have that expense.”
The Perry County Sheriff’s Office will also be offering an unneeded medication drop-off at the fairgrounds as long as they aren’t liquids or sharp objects. Mickey says that around 180 people were vaccinated at last year’s event with 50 pounds of medications collected.
You can pre-register for the Drive-Thru Flu Clinic by visiting the Perry County Health Department’s website.
