Petal It Forward returns, Imlay Florist is set to give away flowers Wednesday
ZANESVILLE, OH- A nationwide flower giveaway comes to Zanesville this week. Imlay Florist is joining Petal It Forward for another year, handing out free bouquets and asking people to keep one and pass the other along.
Petal It Forward is a Society of American Florists campaign. For 11 years, floral shops in all 50 states have given two flowers or bouquets to strangers on one day in October to show the benefits of giving and receiving flowers. Imlay Florist, the oldest continuously family-owned florist in the United States and a Society member serving the community since 1841, will set up pop-up locations . Anyone who stops by gets two free bouquets.
“The goal is to let the community know that it’s great to receive flowers, but also be able to give them away, they will get two bouquets, one for them to keep and one for them to give to someone,” said Imlay Florist Owner, Katie Imlay.
The goal is simple, to enjoy the flowers and share them.
“The difference this year is we are going out into the community for different pop up locations, we will reveal that location on morning at 6 a.m. on our Facebook page, we’ll have three or four different locations that we will be at that day, we’ve kind of decided to really take it out into the community instead of just doing it at the flower shop,” said Imlay.
Imlay Florist wants to see how far the kindness goes and asks people to post on social media and tag the shop. Details are on Facebook at Imlay Florists and on their website.
